Baked Pasta with Bacon, Ham and Mozzarella

This baked pasta is a creamy, gratin-style recipe made with layers of pasta, fried bacon, ham, mozzarella cheese and a light mixture of eggs, plain yogurt and milk. The breadcrumbs help create a golden base, while the oven sets everything into a flavorful, appetizing dish.

Ingredientes
  

  • 1 teaspoon salt for the pasta water
  • 400 g pasta
  • 150 g bacon
  • 150 g ham
  • olive oil for greasing
  • breadcrumbs for greasing
  • mozzarella cheese to taste
  • 2 eggs
  • 170 g plain yogurt
  • 300 ml milk
  • 1 teaspoon salt for the cream mixture

Modo de preparo
 

  • Add the salt to boiling water, add the pasta and cook for about 5 to 7 minutes, until al dente.
  • While the pasta cooks, heat a skillet and fry the bacon until golden.
  • Add the ham to the skillet and fry it together with the bacon for a few minutes. Turn off the heat and set aside.
  • Drain the cooked pasta and set aside.
  • Grease the bottom and sides of a baking dish with a drizzle of olive oil, spreading it with a brush.
  • Sprinkle breadcrumbs over the olive oil, coating the bottom and sides of the dish.
  • Place half of the pasta in the dish, forming the first layer.
  • Spread part of the bacon and ham over the pasta and cover with mozzarella cheese.
  • Add another layer with the remaining pasta, spread the remaining bacon and ham on top and finish with more mozzarella.
  • In a bowl, lightly mix the eggs.
  • Add the plain yogurt, milk and salt to the eggs. Mix until smooth.
  • Pour the mixture over the assembled pasta, spreading it throughout the dish.
  • Bake in a preheated oven at 180 °C for 20 minutes, until set and lightly gratinated.
  • Remove from the oven and serve while hot.

Notas

Cook the pasta only until al dente, as it will still bake with the cream mixture. Grease the bottom and sides of the baking dish well with olive oil and breadcrumbs for better texture. For a more golden top, leave it in the oven for a few extra minutes, watching carefully so it does not dry out.
