This easy recipe combines thin half-moon potato slices lightly fried in a skillet, well-sautéed ground beef with onion, garlic, paprika and black pepper, plus a generous topping of mozzarella cheese, tomato slices and oregano. Everything is finished in the same pan until the cheese melts, creating a creamy, flavorful homemade dish that is perfect for lunch or dinner.

Ingredients
  

  • 4 potatoes cut into thin half-moon slices
  • oil for lightly frying
  • salt to taste
  • black pepper to taste
  • 1 teaspoon paprika for the potatoes
  • 1 teaspoon oregano for the potatoes
  • 450 g ground beef
  • 1 chopped onion
  • 2 cloves chopped garlic
  • 1 teaspoon salt for the beef
  • 1 teaspoon paprika for the beef
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper for the beef
  • shredded mozzarella cheese to taste
  • tomato slices to taste
  • oregano for finishing

Instructions
 

  • Cut the potatoes into thin half-moon slices.
  • Place the potatoes in a large pan or skillet and add a little oil.
  • Stir over medium heat and lightly fry until the potatoes cook slightly and begin to soften.
  • Season the potatoes with a pinch of salt, a pinch of black pepper, paprika and oregano. Mix well.
  • When the potatoes are well seasoned and almost done, turn off the heat and set aside.
  • In another pan, add the ground beef and sauté well until all the liquid evaporates and the meat becomes loose.
  • Add the chopped onion and chopped garlic to the beef and sauté until soft and fragrant.
  • Season the beef with salt, paprika and black pepper. Mix well to distribute the seasoning.
  • Spread the sautéed ground beef over the reserved potatoes, distributing it evenly.
  • Add a generous layer of shredded mozzarella cheese over the beef.
  • Place tomato slices over the cheese and finish with a pinch of oregano.
  • Cover the pan and keep over low heat until the cheese melts completely.
  • Remove a portion and serve hot, with tender potatoes, seasoned beef and melted cheese.

Notes

Cut the potatoes into thin slices so they cook faster and become tender without falling apart. Sauté the ground beef until all the liquid has evaporated for a deeper flavor. Use low heat after covering the pan so the cheese melts without burning the potato base.
