Breaded Chicken Stuffed with Ham and Cheese

This stuffed breaded chicken is a crispy, golden and very flavorful recipe made with chicken breast opened into thin slices and filled with ham and mozzarella cheese. After being coated in flour, beaten eggs and breadcrumbs, the chicken is fried until golden outside with melted cheese inside.

  • Plastic bag For protecting the chicken while pounding.
  • Meat mallet For thinning the chicken breast.
  • Bowls For separating flour, beaten eggs and breadcrumbs.
  • skillet For frying the breaded chicken.
  • Tongs or fork For turning the chicken while frying.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 chicken breast
  • 2 slices ham
  • mozzarella cheese to taste
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 4 eggs
  • breadcrumbs for coating
  • oil for frying

Instructions
 

  • Cut the chicken breast into thin slices, removing a top section and forming two pieces for stuffing.
  • Place the chicken inside a plastic bag and pound it lightly until thinner and even.
  • Place the ham slices and mozzarella cheese over one piece of chicken.
  • Cover with the other piece of chicken, sealing the filling well in the center.
  • Place the flour in a bowl.
  • In another bowl, beat the eggs well.
  • Place the breadcrumbs in a third bowl.
  • Coat the stuffed chicken first in flour, covering all sides well.
  • Then dip it in the beaten eggs, covering the entire surface.
  • Finish by coating it in breadcrumbs, pressing lightly to form a well-covered crust.
  • Heat the oil in a skillet and add the breaded chicken to fry.
  • Let it brown on one side, then turn carefully to brown the other side.
  • When golden and crispy, remove it from the skillet and place it on a plate.
  • Cut and serve while still hot to enjoy the melted cheese filling.

Notes

Pound the chicken breast inside a plastic bag to thin it without tearing it. Seal the chicken well around the filling so the cheese does not leak during frying. The oil should be hot but not excessive, so the coating browns without burning and the chicken cooks through.
