
Crispy Fried Dough with Orange
This crispy fried dough with orange is a simple, delicious recipe that is perfect as a snack or sweet treat. The dough is made with wheat flour, sugar, salt, egg, orange juice and water, then kneaded until smooth, divided into balls, rested and stretched very thin before frying. The result is a dry, crispy dough with a light orange flavor.

Ingredients
- 800 g all-purpose wheat flour
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 egg
- 2 oranges, juiced
- room temperature water as needed
- wheat flour for dusting
- oil for greasing hands
- fat or oil for frying
Instructions
- Sift the wheat flour little by little into a large bowl to avoid lumps.
- Make a well in the center of the flour and add the sugar and salt.
- Mix the sugar and salt into the flour.
- Add the egg and mix again.
- Add the orange juice and begin incorporating everything with your hands.
- Add room temperature water little by little, watching the texture, until a slightly sticky dough forms.
- Transfer the dough to a floured counter and sprinkle a little flour on top.
- Knead until the dough is smooth and even.
- Add a little oil over the dough, fold it and knead a little longer to make it even smoother.
- Cut the dough into pieces and shape each piece into a ball.
- Place the balls on a plate, cover with a cloth and let rest for 10 minutes.
- Grease your hands with oil, take one ball and stretch it by pulling and rotating until very thin.
- Place the stretched dough in hot fat or oil and fry until golden on one side.
- Turn and brown the other side quickly.
- Remove and place on a plate lined with paper towels to drain.
- Repeat with the remaining balls and serve the fried dough while still crispy.

Add the water little by little to control the dough texture, which should be slightly sticky before kneading. Dust the counter with only enough flour to help handle the dough without drying it out. The thinner the dough is stretched, the crispier it will be after frying. Fry in well-heated fat or oil and drain on paper towels to keep the texture dry and crisp.
