
Cheesy Potato and Ham Bake with White Sauce
A delicious baked potato dish with ham and creamy white sauce, perfect for lunch or dinner. It turns golden on top and stays rich and creamy inside.

Ingredients
- drizzle of olive oil
- 1 sliced onion
- 200 g chopped ham
- 2 tbsp butter
- 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 1.5 cups milk
- 1 tsp salt
- pinch of black pepper
- 1 tsp oregano
- boiled potatoes
- grated cheese
Instructions
- In a skillet, heat a drizzle of olive oil and sauté the onion with the ham until lightly browned. Set aside.
- In a saucepan, melt the butter and add the flour, mixing well.
- Gradually add the milk, stirring constantly until smooth and lump-free.
- Season with salt, black pepper, and oregano, stirring until the sauce thickens.
- Spread a layer of sauce on the bottom of a baking dish.
- Add the boiled potatoes and spread evenly.
- Top with the sautéed ham and onion mixture.
- Pour the remaining white sauce over the top.
- Finish with grated cheese on top.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (350°F) for about 30 minutes until golden and bubbly.

Notes
You can substitute butter with margarine if needed. Stir the white sauce well to avoid lumps. Use any cheese you prefer for gratinating.
