
Homemade French Bread (Bakery Style)
Learn how to make bakery-style French bread at home with a crispy crust and soft interior. This economical recipe yields up to 30 rolls.

Ingredients
- 20 g dry yeast
- 6 cups all-purpose flour
- 100 ml water
- cold water as needed
- 2 tablespoons salt
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 3 tablespoons butter
Instructions
- Mix 10g of yeast with 4 tablespoons of flour and 100 ml of water. Let rest for 15 minutes.
- Add the remaining 10g of yeast, salt, and sugar, mixing well.
- Add the flour and cold water gradually until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough well until smooth and no longer sticky.
- Add the butter and knead again until fully incorporated.
- Let the dough rest for 15–20 minutes until it doubles in size.
- Divide the dough into portions of about 60g and shape into rolls.
- Let rest again for 30 minutes.
- Score the tops lightly and bake at 200°C (390°F) for 30 minutes with steam in the oven.

Notes
Use very cold water for better dough texture. Placing a pan with water in the oven creates steam and helps achieve a crispy crust.
